Been runnin win 7 pro on my mini 9 since september without probs. Just used the guide here
GUIDE: Installing Windows 7 To Use 3GB Of SSD/HDD Space
I have further stripped win 7 pro but i have yet to install on my netbook as this install works like a charm. Take a look at the attached pic. Notice i have Photoshop cs4 (a minimalized version), MS office 2003, firefox and other programs and documents with 2.8ish GB free.

If all you've got is an 8Gb the best thing to do is slim down windows 7 using vlite and take out the junk you don't need (especially media center and the language packs and the tablet PC if you arent gonna install a touch screen), and pop it unto a flash drive with "WinSetupFromUSB", that makes a bootable USB pretty fast (like 7 mins tops)..
I tried Moblin, Ubuntu, Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7, but so far Windows 7 runs tops - fast boot time, stable, no driver problems, snappy interface and way great battery life.. Just waitin on my touch screen
