Lightbulb Mini9 wireless problem solved - 12-30-2008, 08:54 PM

...I have solved my potential dealbreaking problem with my new Mini9.

And I wonder how many other new owners of Mini9s have had the same problem.

When surfing the internet wirelessly and listening to streaming audio, the audio would stop and the streaming source would say "buffering". The buffering would begin, on several different stations, within 20 seconds or so after coming on.

In other words, out of the box, the Mini was not set up to do much of anything multimedia-wise (wirelessly).

Well, after determining that the buffering problem was not evident when connected to the internet via Ethernet.

So a bit of searching in Computer Management:Network Adapters:Broadcom Adapter led me to figure out that Dell has the wireless card set up to save battery power (I think). I forget exactly which settings I tweaked...but I changed 2-3 settings (away from saving battery)...there and voila...uninterrupted live streaming audio is accessible wirelessly.

So if you're having trouble wirelessly...go to Computer Management and fiddle with the Broadcom Adapter may help.

Sorry if this has been discovered previously...and thanks for a wonderful forum.

Thank you for the info, it worked for me as well. I have not tested it a lot but two different sources have been much improved.

Here is a more detailed explanation of what worked for me:

Go into Device Manager
Right Click on the Broadcom and choose Properties.
Go to the Advanced tab.
Disable "Minimum Power Consumption"

That did it for me. Thanks again.

Also wouldn't hurt upgrading to latest Broadcom driver backwards compatible w/Dell Wireless 13xx/14xx/15xx, ect., ect...
