Default Ubuntu or XP - 12-21-2008, 03:22 AM

Curious as to what you all think. Should I stick with XP or should I load Ubuntu? My mini has the 16 gig drive in it and I've upgraded it to 2 gigs of ram. Which runs better on a Mini 9? Curious minds want to know (or at least my mind does)

"Runs better" is actually a tricky thing since the answer always depends on individual needs. I imagine some of the folks who dual boot can comment on similarities or differences in speed and performance, but it'd be good to know what it is exactly that you plan on doing with it/your needs.

If you've never tried Ubuntu you could always dual boot to play around with it to see if it meets your needs.

It may not be obvious but there is a forum here dedicated to discussion about Ubuntu on the Mini 9. You may have better exposure of your posts about Ubuntu there.

It's at:

From the main list of forums you need to scroll down a bit.

Anyone owning a Mini 9 with Ubuntu should also take a good look at this wiki page:

It lists common issues for the Mini 9 with Ubuntu, either pre-installed from factory or installed from an Ubuntu vanilla 8.04.1 CD.

It also has direct links to the documentation that came with the computer in electronic form, as well as links to other community sites, forums and mailing lists.

If you have a specific question about the Mini 9, it is also possible to ask it here:

I can't answer all questions here in the forum, but I keep a close eye on questions asked via Launchpad.

Thank you.
