No surprise - A05 was the same. MyDigitalDiscount is selling a BetterPower extended battery that claims to work with A05 and A06.

Default OK, stupid question - 01-24-2010, 06:34 PM

if Dell is so worried about aftermarket batteries working in our Minis, then why has Dell not come out with an extended battery? Frankly, I'm not all that excited about adding bulk to my Mini, but there is obviously a demand that Dell could fill.... It really is too bad that as battery technology advances we do not get a better battery in the same footprint.... (Kinda like cell phones). It seems as though by the time battery technology catches up, the device is obsolete....

Dell does now offer extended batteries for its current models. They abandoned the Mini 9 before they could get to that. The non-Dell battery issue is just their general way of making it difficult to use non-Dell accessories.

And that is how Dell has lost my business. My original battery has died just a few days out of warranty, got a replacement battery from a third party, and it was a mess. I had to downgrade to A00 in order for the replacement battery to work.

Now I am on the market for a new netbook. Dell has good deals, but I got burned once and I won't trust the brand anymore. In the meantime, I have changed by laptop, my desktop and of course, none of them is Dell. Too bad, because before this experience I was quite happy with Dell, although my first laptop had already had some problems just out of warranty (that time it was the hard drive).

I am a Texan, I should love Dell because it's based in Austin, but they have to learn to earn and maintain the trust of their customers. Good bye, Dell!

You will likely find that other manufacturers do the same thing. HP certainly does with some of its products.
