Default Just scooped up the A90! Need some ram and case suggestions - 11-27-2009, 06:05 AM

I finally had to buy an A90. For $184, I couldn't resist! But what happened to the price of a 2GB stick of DDR 2 Ram! It's like $40! I thought it was supposed to be $20. Why has the price gone up so much?

Where can i also find a good fitting 9" sleeve? All the sleeves out there seem to be for the 10" netbooks.

Any help?

Price of RAM has gone up lately. $20 would have been an excellent sale price, I paid $26 on sale some months ago. $40 isn't bad. Just be thankful you're not buying DDR (1) RAM, which is much more expensive nowadays.

So true. I paid $22 from Newegg back in April when I bought a couple of mini 9's. Unfortunately it has doubled. Still though a linux load just runs really sweet with a tmpfs for a cache when browsing. If you're a Linux user Ubuntu 9.10 runs perfect. No issues and very fast with a Runcore!!! Welcome to the crowd. If you're like the rest of us the Mini will get more use than your other machines....

Edit: I bought a nice case on Amazon check them out... they have a ton of selections and quality is good. I would recommend a case for a 10 instead of a 9 as they offer just a tad more space for accessories.

Are Runcores safe to buy? I heard a lot of people complaining they die quickly and crash. What would my other choices be if so?

I would say that RunCore is safe - that's an SSD, not RAM. The biggest problem people have had is shorting out a pin against the mounting post for the T-style SSDs. A thin nylon washer or even a piece of electrical tape will take care of that.

I've had my RunCore SSD for a year now and it's been fine.

I use a slipcase I got on ebay for $3 including shipping. Do a search for '8.9" laptop sleeve' and there is a hong kong seller for both zippered and non-zipper cases. The only drawback is it takes 2-3 weeks for delivery. Fits great though.
