Post Re: Removing the Intel Sticker from a Mini 9 - 05-10-2009, 09:06 AM

I actually registered just to post on this topic as it is so simple...

Step 1, Turn the mini on
Step 2, watch youtube for couple minutes.
note the mini is now very warm/hot to touch
Step 3, remove the sticker with your finger nail effortlessly as the sticky stuff is now soft from the heat produce by the mini

We have to go through 4 pages to get to schwank's correct answer.

I just peeled mine off , schwank's method was the simplest and cheapest

*** Use the sticker itself to remove it's own residue. ***

After reading this thread, I decided to peel off the N sticker today. I like the Atom sticker, and without it the palm rest would be a bit plain. But the N sticker is big, ugly, and out of place. I have fat fingers and no fingernail, but a bit prying at it I was able to completely remove it. There was a square outline of goo left after the removal. I used Mederma (a scar removal agent) and it came right off, no discoloration. I discovered Mederma when I used it to remove a pen mark from accidentally swiping at the palm rest. The pen mark came off and the best thing is no discoloration. I won't try any other chemical, because it might leave some discoloration or eat into the plastic. Mederma worked great for me.

I peeled off my Xp sticker and replaced it with a Vista sticker I bought off eBay. Will do the same thing with 7 when I upgrade to that.

mine came off both of my laptops (s101 + mini9) with my fingernail and the tough ones came off with a slight push with a credit card. It actually slid off, didn't need to lift a corner.

as for residue, just rubbed off with my finger?

The N Series sticker I took off too fast so it left behind a lot of residue on it. The Atom sticker I peeled off super slow and everything came off with no leftover residue. To get rid of the residue that was left behind by the N Series sticker I used a piece of gaffers tape and peeled it off real quick like if you're waxing. Took less than a second.
