| Member Posts: 57 Join Date: Oct 2008 | Sounds like it might be speed step. What OS are you running? Speedstep is a process where the processor is downclocked when the extra speed isn't needed. This is to conserve power and reduce heat output. I am thinking that maybe your mini is set that when it runs off the battery the cpu multiplier is locked. |

| Senior Member Posts: 100 Join Date: Nov 2008 | I thought I saw the option to disable speedstep in the BIOS?? ...pretty sure. You will run your battery down much faster disabling it though. Your processor will not down clock and will always run at 100% using more power. Here's another thought that I am not sure about but the integrated graphics may also do something similar when running on battery so the graphics chipset consumes less power when running on battery. I'm not sure about this but in dedicated graphics processors this is the case. |
