disabling windows services to free up speed - 12-04-2008, 06:28 PM
First off, just received my Mini9 last night. Already been doing some tweaks to it (thanks to the forum). One thing I've done with my previous laptops (and now the Mini9) is disabling windows "unneeded services" (with great success) following "Black Viper's" guide. I haven't seen it on this forum, so I thought I'd share.
Black Viper's site is great, highly recommend:
Note that this is for XPsp3. As a note: one of his tweaks is for disabling networking/wifi, if you're like me and need it, keep it on. Don't worry, his site has LOTS of info and explanation to help you.
anyways, hope you get great results as well.
correction: black viper was actually mentioned briefly in a post that didn't get any attention, in my opinion, this should be linked in the guides section. also, my apologies if this should have been in the Windows section, forgot about it, feel free to move if needed.

Yeah, there should be some stickies on this stuff. I used Jason N's guide:
