I did look for the cord & I'm not able to find it. (I should've had one, though, because I had upgraded the 360 hard drive. I thought I bought one, too..... This would have been an interesting problem to reproduce.)
The only thing I could think of to try to recover the SSD without trying a reformat, if it's recoverable, is to use Knoppix. I've heard a lot of people talk about it; I've never personally had to use it, though. I'm not sure if it's for pen drives/USB sticks.
Edit: I've been thinking some more & I came across Unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/). On the page it is said that it can be used to load various system utilities. Maybe you might want to check that out? It can be used on a USB stick. System utilities that looked promising to help your Mini are Parted Magic, SystemRescueCD, Super Grub Disk, and/or Gujin. Perhaps, it's worth a try?
