Default Error installing Ubuntu 9.04 - 08-18-2009, 01:37 AM

Running into a bit of an issue installing Ubuntu 9.04. Just got my mini-9, upgraded to 2gb Mushkin ram and 32gb runcore ssd. All components appear to work fine. I tried to install 9.04 from 3 different usb drives, a 2gb sandisk cruzer, a 4gb sandisk cruzer, and a 4gb pny attache. All fail at 32% with '[Errno 5] Input/Output error'. I can run the live OS off the keys just fine. Same issue with stock mem and 4gb stec ssd.

Already searched the forums for this error with no results.. any ideas?

Did you try the "Check disk for errors" option?

Did you verify the MD5 value of the downloaded file (.iso or .img)?

Also, you could try the alternate installer.

I'd be very surprised if one of the two above suggested isn't the problem.

However, if both MD5 and the verify/check option on the live boot do come back fine, I --almost-- guarantee you downloading the .iso from one of's download mirror sites -> performing MD5 -> following "recommended default method" (you can use your stock installed Ubuntu or even a live boot if you wish) -> performing the integrity check from live boot will create a perfectly working live stick. (assuming no hardware issues, your drive is in working condition, formatted to a proper file system -- FAT32 or below, etc)

I had a few problems my self trying to install Ubuntu
on my Mini 9.
I got errors and it would not boot the live cd.or usb.
What solved my problem was that i tried a different usb port.
That help solve my problem.
you can try it and see what happens.
