Question Few questions after upgrading to 2GB, 32SSD and Windows 7... - 08-16-2009, 02:33 PM

1) Should I enable write caching on the drive policies?

2) Two devices haven't got their drivers.. they are listed as Base System Devices. Does anyone know what they are or how to go about finding out?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, leave write caching on. Someone early on said turning it off helps but not that's not the case now.

The base devices are 2/3rds of the card reader. Win7 has drivers for the SD part, install the driver for the other 2/3rds.

Thanks for the replies guys, both have helped me out!

But sadly when I try to enable write caching on the RunCore 32GB SSD it says the device may not support it and doesn't let me enable it.

Just got my new mini yesterday.. promptly went to 2gb ram and Windows 7 from Ubuntu. I found out you can also download the drivers for the 2 base system devices (jmicron) from the Dell support website. Drivers say they are for XP but worked fine on Win 7.

You really want the Vista drivers for these devices. The Windows 7 Guides section of this forum has a thread with a complete list.
