I recently received my second mini9 (yeah) and have been wanting to put Win7 on it. I spent a few days researching how to create a bootable Win7 usb thumbdrive. I found a few guides. Unfortunately, I just could not get my mini9 to boot from the thumbdrive. Who knows what I was doing wrong?
But, I was able to install it easily across my home network. Here is what I did:
1. XP SP3 Desktop with DaemonTools Lite. I mounted the Win7 .iso with DaemonTools lite (Drive J). I right clicked on Drive J and enabled Sharing.
2. XP Home SP 3 mini9, I browsed my network connections and selected drive J from my desktop computer. The initial Win7 screen came up and I chose the Install option.
3. Win7 quickly installed across the network onto my mini9. Despite the mini9 restarting a couple of times during install, it continued to find Win7 .iso on drive J across the network.
That is all I had to do. It was so simple...who knew?
