Default External monitor - XP - 07-16-2009, 10:38 AM

Hi folks,

I was trying my Mini-9 with an external monitor, and I could get the external to simply repeat what was on the Mini's screen. But is it possible to have the external as an EXTRA screen, an extension to the Mini's desktop?

It would be really nice to be able to do presentations on the external monitor/projector and still have the Mini's screen to show notes etc. Or to have graphics programs on a big screen and palettes/toolboxes on the Mini's screen.

Anybody know if/how to do this?

Right-click on the open desktop and select Properties. This opens the Display Properties dialog.

Click on the Settings tab.

Click on the 2nd monitor in the icons area, then check the box for "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor." Adjust the resolution if needed, and click OK.

On my mini 9 I can just right click on the desktop and I have a Graphics Options part that expands into letting me change that, among other things.

Hi guys, new to the forum and just a quick question regarding external monitors for any knowledgeable: is it detrimental to the keep my mini hooked up to my ext monitor for extended periods of time (ie up to 9 hours)? Just wondering as I like my current setup and the thought crossed my mind.

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers.
