Default Ubuntu to Windows OS - 05-29-2009, 05:38 PM

I have a Dell Mini 12 and want to remove the Linux OS and install Windows OS. How can i do this? I tried booting off a Windows 7 RC disk that I created from the download, but it tells me that I don't have enought space for temp files or it can't find a location to place them.

I really want to go back to a Windows environment, so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Vince

I used the CD-Rom method, burn windows 7 RC on to a DVD-RW. Connect the USB to my dell mini 12 and do a freshman installation. Partition 15GB for he os and the rest for file safety. Incase I need to change the OS my backup files will be the safe.

I've burned my dvd and connected the portable dvd player to my Mini via usb. When you mean freshman installation, is that a Linux term? I tried running the install, and it gives me the error messages I posted earlier.

ROTFL, that was a typo, I'm attending college this fall so I'm used to typing freshman.

Fresh meaning deleting all the partition off the hard drive, so it's all free and then installing it onto that partition. Does that make sense? I think ur installing it into too small a space, windows 7 require at least 15GB of free space.

When u get on to the partition screen delete all the drive until you have one left.

ALSO make sure you burn the dvd correctly, I usually set it to 2X. Mainly cause any error on the disc results in a corrupt installation.

Try that if it doesn't work test it (the dvd) on another computer. You shouldn't have any problem... my installation was a breeze, the first thing I did with my laptop was reinstall it because ubuntu was unuseable.
