I heard of some stupidest technique, like turning off HD acoustic.I tried everything! and XFCE on ubuntu w/ UNR is SLOW! Windows 7 seems to be the quickest OS. Here's my SPEC Dell mini 12 Z520: 1.3GHz Ram : 1GB HD: 40GB 4200 Price:$237.15 Spring outlet sell In the end the most useful tool I found was overclock the dell mini 12. Here's the link to the tool http://www13.plala.or.jp/setfsb/ . The credit goes to the original poulsbo chipset in Sony vaio P (Link/How to OC @ Source) WARNING: I'm not liable for anything you do beyond this point, I'm just sharing what WORKED for me. At first I hit 1.6GHz (542) very unstable laptop froze/blue screen @ Prime 95 test. Now I'm safely at 1.5GHz and it's stable. A little bit more heat but not much. Compare to my M1340 the heat is NOTHING. I'm @ 492 = 1502MHz Results: Window Experience Index Original stock Vs OcED @ 492 <- this reading is on FSB tool Processor: 1.9 vs 2.2 (+0.3) Memory : 4.2 vs 4.4 (+0.2) Graphic : 2.9 vs 4.5 (+1.6) Gaming : 2.5 vs 2.7 (+0.2) Harddrive : 4.1 vs 4.1 (+0.0) NOTE: The reason everything went up is because it's over clocking the FSB, therefore the entire chip set is getting a boost not just the processor. PS: I got the Idea from the MSI WIND. It has a TURBO button which boost it's speed from 1.6GHz to 1.9GHz. Its interesting, how much Microsoft will take for upgrade from Vista Home Basic to Windows 7? Which versions of Windows 7 will be available? Want to install internal WWAN modem, replace HDD with SSD or CompactFlash. P.S. English it is not my native language, so, please, excuse me for its poor quality. | |
