Default Help with Vista to XP - 02-18-2009, 06:31 AM

Hi, I am looking to upgrade my OS by replacing Vista with XP on my mini12. I had a couple this what should be done?

1) plug in external dvd drive with xp pro or home
2) in bios select the boot device (the dvd drive)
3) install xp pro or home
4) boot up in whatever mode it is when you have bare minimum drivers etc (in other words i will be seeing the desktop even though in very basic resolution)
5) then download drivers and install from here ( ... WW1&osl=EN)

My question comes from installing the drivers. Will I be able to install the drivers if I saved them all to a USB? or do I have to burn them onto a CD? SHould I download and install all the drivers?

thanks and which would be best XP home or pro?

You can save them to a USB flash drive and install them from there.

Unless you need to be able to join to a domain or need to be able to use RDP to get into the Mini 12, you should be fine with Home.

When I switched from vista to XP I just saved all the drivers from the dell website to a flashdrive.

I have a question which you are going to go through also. Once I switched over to XP I didn't find the dell aplication to control the performance/battery life like I had on vista. How do you control the chipset like I did on vista.

Also what program is everybody using to play with the webcam in vista.
