Hello, i have an issue hopefully someone can help me with.

I have an inspiron 1210 and every time i try to boot it i get a message saying operating system not found after the p.o.s.t.
I have reformatted more than five times and it still does not boot. I have replaced the boot files and still nothing. I have checked the cables and the drive and everything is in working order. The only way for me to boot to windows is to connect my portable cd/dvd drive, insert the restore cd, select the option to recover the drive, and then when it asks me to select a the drive to restore i dont select any and just press enter to restart the pc. And that works every time. I really dont know what else it could be.
