I bought a sabertooth ZF 32GB
SSD from Amazon to "upgrade" from the original 80GB slow magnetic disk (which was getting some bad blocks and getting ready to die). Unfortunately the ZIF connector on the drive is different enough that the ZIF flex cable in the mini 12 doesn't fully go into it. There's 1mm more necessary for the electrical contacts to touch properly and what's holding it back is a kapton ridge built into the flex cable. I was able to remove this ridge using a microscope and special tools and a lot of patience, but others will want to research buying a zif cable instead.
Otherwise the drive seems nice and fast. 18 second boot into xubuntu from power button push to login prompt. I can run benchmarks if you like, just let me know what you'd like to see and I'll run them.
Oh, I recommend buying an external 1.8" USB drive enclosure when you do buy a replacement disk, that way you can access the old disk using the new one.
