Hi I dropped my mini 12 while it was on and the hard drive is fooked wont boot into windows, so i decided to take it out get what data i can off it and reformat hopefully. I brought a sata /ide cradle however the drive seems to be neither....is there a cradle or cable that converts it to ide so i can read it through a usb port?

you can take an external hdd case like this.

put in your hdd, and read your data out.

Good Luck.

You are correct, that drive's connector is not a standard connector (it's a ZIF connector, not PATA or SATA standard.)

You need a special connector/enclosure similar to this: USB2.0 Mini Enclosure for 1.8" ZIF Hard Drive (the link the previous poster provided will not work.)

Otherwise, hope you have a backup somewhere.

I'd use the Mini 12 itself as a drive enclosure. Boot off a USB drive or USB CDROM (I'd use a Linux LiveCD), then copy files off the HDD to a USB drive or network share.
