Plus this problem has carried over to when I upgraded to window 7 (which works perfectly and is way faster than vista or even xp) so recommend upgrade for dell mini 12 users. Anyways i read threads on this saying that it might be an Intel speedstep problem. I know there are threads of this that are on the forum but they are too old so i started a new one. Can anyone help me solve this problem. Thank you
It is my understanding that this particular lockup (mouse/keyboard freeze) has something to do with flash and is resolved if flash is updated to the latest version or downgraded to a previous version.
The speedstep freeze seems to be related to the video driver. Upgrading the video driver to the latest iteration seems to solve this.
I am no expert on this. I have somehow gotten my system to no longer freeze as such. I am using ubuntu, installed all the upgrades, and further compiled the latest iteration of the video driver which is for some reason not distributed on the dell mini upgrade channel but is available on the web. The windows 7 driver I have heard is equally as solid and boosts the score of the video test as well as improving stability.
I remember these freezes well and re-encountered them when I tried to wipe my system clean to see which step in software upgrades fixes the freeze. I did this one step at a time over several days and the key items seem to be flash and video driver.
