Default Mini 10v gets N280 Processor - 06-25-2009, 12:01 PM

Went looking for the Resolution upgrade and found the Dell site offering the N280 processor!

Which was the N280. SOmething like 1.8 GHz?

NM: 1.66 GHz, just looked it up.

Amusing.. I just looked at the Dell US site, and when you select that processor, it gives you a fit... lol

Yea, it doesn't do that from the EPP site. IDK why???

Yea, that Compatibility error is because it should be paired with the new GN40 graphics chipset and not the GMA950.
Probably wishful thinking....
Notice I didn't even mention Ion.............LOL

Seems to be working now. Is the difference just the .06ghz in speed? per the decriptions same cache and same fsb

I believe Dell's website is in error. The N280 uses a 667 mHz FSB.
Intel® Atom™ Processor N280 (512K Cache, 1.66 GHz, 667 MHz FSB) with SPEC Code(s) SLGL9

Indeed, the faster FSB is supposed to provide more of a boost than the 0.06 GHz increase in clock speed.

I had read that as well, nut they are not changing the chipset(apparently). Does the 945 support 667mhz?

The N280 works fine with the 945 chipset. Dell is not even the first to use it, its already in many EEE's, the Toshiba N205, the HP 5101, and other netbooks.
