Default Windows 7 Experience Index for Dell Mini 10v - 06-04-2009, 04:03 PM

Here are my scrores for a basic Mini 10v with 1GB ram and 8GB Samsung UM410 SSD:

Processor: 2.2
Memory: 4.4
Graphics: 2.0
Gaming graphics: 3.0
Primary hard disk: 5.9

The standout score for me is the SSD - just shows what can be done with a modern SATA SSD hard drive in a netbook!

- Simon.

I think the score is heavily weighted towards the read speed. Even the stock STEC SSDs in the Mini 9 get a 5.9 on the hard drive test.

I wonder what a spindrive gets? I removed the 120GB hdd before installing Win7 directly to a Vertex SSD. My scores:

CPU 2.2
RAM 4.3
Graphic 2.1
Gaming 3.0
Primary HD 6.8

I have just tested the Silicon Power 32GB MLC SSD in my Dell Mini 10v and the hard drive index comes out the same at 5.9 so I guess the performance increase over the Samsung SSD is not that great.

What's interesting is that the first time, my score was only a 2.0. This time, it's a 2.2.

Processor 2.2
Memory 4.3
Graphic 2.2
Gaming Graphics 3.0
Primary hard disk 5.3

I have gotten scores from 1.9 to 2.2 -- I am pretty sure it's heat related, as either my processor or graphic scores suffered the warmer the unit was.

I got the stock 160GB HDD and SSD's results are not that different. so I hope that test for the HDD is pretty unreliable as I would like to buy a SSD and I don't want to spend +100€ in something that won't change my everyday life with that netbook...

have your SSDs changed your minis?
