hi fokes, this is the solution i found on the dell chinese support site:

this freeze problems is caused by the web cam driver, all you need to do is install the old driver : http://ftp.dell.com/input/R209510.exe

after i install the old driver i have no more freeze at shut down, i hope it helps you guys. cheers~

Default Has to do with screen - 02-24-2010, 04:17 PM

I started experiencing this when a tech installed a new LCD on my mini 10. Just thought I would add this to the thread because this NEVER happened, not even once until he installed a new LCD.

I ordered a refurbished mini 10 from the Dell Outlet. It was supposed to have the 1366x768 screen but it came with 1024x576. A tech came out to my house to install a new LCD panel (actually was a whole assembly with the color backing and antennae). After he left, I shut down the computer and it froze and does this every single time ever since.

So my contribution to this thread is I think it has to do with the video driver.

Default My Fix - 08-15-2010, 02:20 PM

My current fix was to disable the webcam in the device manager. It worked the 1st and the 2nd time in a row. Have not tested further..

Maybe coincidence, maybe not.

I have had the shutdown freeze also and tried uninstalling the webcam and then let it reinstall automatically after a restart and it appears that the problem is gone...thanks for the idea...

Update, have booted the computer a couple of dozen times, having used the TV receiver, the browser for video etc...and no freeze at shutdown...so the webcam driver was the problem for me...after uninstalling it and allowing it to automatically reinstall at boot, no freezing anymore....so to anyone who is still having the freeze problem, give this a try!
