Default I presume this Mini 10 ad is wrong! - 04-13-2009, 11:46 AM

Having read around these forums, I am fairly confident that is something of an error!

I have emailed response (although to be fair, it is still Easter Hols).

If I understand it correctly, to upgrade the memory on a Mini 10 would mean a new daughterboard that also seems to house the cpu, which would price it beyond being worthwhile?

Unfortunately, Mini 10's RAM is not upgradeable. There are a number of threads that discuss this problem, including these two:

Also, according to this thread, the ad you mentioned is BS:

It seems to me like this company is just trying to get money out of unsuspecting consumers.

Mini 10v (1011): Passion Purple, N270, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, XP Home
Inspiron 11z (1110): Passion Purple, SU4100, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD, Win7
Alienware M11x R1: Cosmic Black, SU7300, 4 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, Win7

Plus a few others not discussed here...

Dell seems to play a little fast and loose with their marketing for the Mini 10. I actually have a print ad here that claims the Mini 10 includes a slot load dvd drive.

Looking at that specific ad, it might refer to the new Mini 10v which should be upgradable to 2G of memory, like the Mini 9.
