Replacement Screen - 09-10-2012, 05:22 AM
Just 48 hours ago, I pulled my Dell Mini from my shelf and noticed that there was a large crack on the screen. (Boy was i pissed) I remembered I bought the Mini used and included a Square Trade warrenty but it seems that the warranty did not cover accidentals. So they refunded me my 50 bucks i paid 1 year ago (2 year warrenty coverage)
I can recommend you to an Ebay Seller : New A+ 10.1" Laptop LED Screen Display for Dell Inspiron Mini 10 10V 1011 1012 | eBay
Sunvalleyus sold me a screen for my Thinkpad and charger 2 years ago . Screen was flawless and was much much less than what Lenovo support wanted. (400 bucks plus labor from Lenovo while the screen was 90 bucks from Sunvalleyus!) The model was the Thinkpad x100e and came out the 2nd week when my screen broke! The charger stopped working 6 months after and remembered their ad specifying there's a 1 year warranty so I contacted them and told them my dilemma and since they are local, I stopped by to pick me up a new charger for free!
I will be buying a screen from them right when the Square Trade refund appears in my paypal account. Just remember to be extra careful when installing the screen as the plastics on the Mini isnt as sturdy as it looks. (especially the bezel) here is a video I recommend to watch before installing:
There are bids for Mini screens on Ebay. (only 1 it seems) But usually with screens, i prefer to buy brand new. Would be a bummer to see a scratch or dead pixel for a screen you bought used while for an extra 15-20 bucks you could gotten new one with no issues.
I'll do a response or maybe a YT video once i got the time of course when the screen arrives.
Let me know if you have any questions.
