Default Broken LCD, where's the best place to get a replacement? - 08-08-2012, 07:16 PM

Somehow my daughter broke the LCD (huge crack) on her Dell Mini 10v. It's no longer under warranty, but the Dell site shows that the part # for the LCD is "M167P". Does anybody know where is the best place to get a replacment? Are any of the eBay vendors reputable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

not sure, but there are plenty out there that will sell a 10v screen, some are reputable some are not, I would go by their Ebay rating etc....also keep in mind that you CAN NOT upgrade the 10v to 1366x768 HD screen, they are ONLY for the 1010 not the 1011, the 1011 cant be upgraded to HD, the cabling is different etc....Good Luck

Dell Mini 10v (1011) max resolution = 1024576

Dell Mini 10 (1010) max resolution = 1024576 - It did have an extra charge option for 1366x768

Dell Mini 10 (Obsidian Black 1010), 2gb RAM, 1.66ghz 533mhz FSB (Z530) processor, A10 BIOS, 1 Terabyte (1000 GB) WD Scorpio Blue Hard Drive (5400rpm), Intel GMA 500 Integrated Graphics, TV Tuner, Bluetooth 2.1 module with EDR, 1.3mp Camera, 1366x768 HD Screen, Wireless 1510 b/g/n mini card, 6 cell (56WHr) Battery, 4gb SDHC, 64gb Flashdrive, Targus Netbook Chillpad, Targus Sport Case, Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (500gb)/Windows 8.1 (500gb) (Dual Boot)

I'd probably look around the web (and here) for someone selling a broken 10v, but with a good screen. Pick it up cheap and then swap the screens.

Default Replacement Screen - 09-10-2012, 05:22 AM

Hey f2racer,

Just 48 hours ago, I pulled my Dell Mini from my shelf and noticed that there was a large crack on the screen. (Boy was i pissed) I remembered I bought the Mini used and included a Square Trade warrenty but it seems that the warranty did not cover accidentals. So they refunded me my 50 bucks i paid 1 year ago (2 year warrenty coverage)

I can recommend you to an Ebay Seller : New A+ 10.1" Laptop LED Screen Display for Dell Inspiron Mini 10 10V 1011 1012 | eBay

Sunvalleyus sold me a screen for my Thinkpad and charger 2 years ago . Screen was flawless and was much much less than what Lenovo support wanted. (400 bucks plus labor from Lenovo while the screen was 90 bucks from Sunvalleyus!) The model was the Thinkpad x100e and came out the 2nd week when my screen broke! The charger stopped working 6 months after and remembered their ad specifying there's a 1 year warranty so I contacted them and told them my dilemma and since they are local, I stopped by to pick me up a new charger for free!

I will be buying a screen from them right when the Square Trade refund appears in my paypal account. Just remember to be extra careful when installing the screen as the plastics on the Mini isnt as sturdy as it looks. (especially the bezel) here is a video I recommend to watch before installing:

There are bids for Mini screens on Ebay. (only 1 it seems) But usually with screens, i prefer to buy brand new. Would be a bummer to see a scratch or dead pixel for a screen you bought used while for an extra 15-20 bucks you could gotten new one with no issues.

I'll do a response or maybe a YT video once i got the time of course when the screen arrives.

Let me know if you have any questions.
