Default 10v screen not turning on - 03-14-2012, 04:52 AM

Hello all, I just sold my 10v to my landlord's kid, and now about a month later the screen isn't turning on. THe LED indicator light fires up, and it sounds like a speaker "clicks," but the screen is a no-go. I've had this box for months, and had no issues, are the 10v's prone to this problem?

I just hooked the 10v to an external monitor, and it was a no-go there too. Is there anything that could make this little experiment flawed? ie, dual monitor support kicks in after the os is logged in? I thought it was automatic, however I never tried to use an external monitor during the boot process.

so,if the external monitor isn't displaying anything does this mean the motherboard/vidcard isn't sending out its signal properly?

(all n all i think the freking kid dropped it, and knocked something out of place)

It does sound like the video chip on the mainboard is gone. This isn't a common problem based on my experience or anything I have read.

From age, or any other self-infliction.

Dropping a 10v? All bets are off -- they're not that rugged.
