Default Dell 10v Max Input amps? - 08-31-2011, 08:53 PM

Hello... I've just got a dell Mini 10v from eBay with a broken charger but before I go and buy another charger I thought i'll check what I have lying around...

I've found one with the same head (but blue not black!) however reading the back of the transformer it says it outputs 4.78Amps.. where on the broken charger, it says 1.28Amps (or something like that)...

I had a dig around on the internet and didn't find much but i'm wondering if it will work or will it fry the laptop? The only reason I ask is because i'm not 100% sure if the charger they supplied is the mfr charger and maybe it was just a cheap charger with less amps...

Thanks in advanced

Liam

My 10v charger says output 19v @ 1.58 amps. Be extra careful. Wrong specs have messed up a few minis here. Volts HAVE to be the same, amps MUST be = or higher than the spec.

thanks for the reply... That's why I haven't plugged it in yet.. I'm too scared, haha...
Its the same amount of volts (19) but I'm worried I might pop it if I try... I think I'll wait to see if anyone has used something with a higher amp output before.

I had a look earlier but no luck, has anyone got links to some kind of spec sheet what may state the max input amps?

thanks

well ya know, you can touch a wire and your body can handle 110 volts, but 1 amp will kill ya

My 10v adapter says input 100-240v @ 0.8 amps. I'm not sure if input amps are important, just output amps has to be = or exceed. Also, when using a different adapter, you need + @ tip

Sorry to rather revive a dead post but I thought for future reference it would be useful to know that my mini 10v ran fine with a charger which oputputs 19v and 3.42A.
This is because the mini should only use the current it needs to run, rather than all of the current available.
