Default Chinese battery experience> - 06-07-2011, 12:29 PM

I bought a 6 cell battery for my 1011 off eBay- turns out it didn't work. Wasn't recognized at all by any operating system. After some haggling with the seller on shipping it to China (we agreed on California, the shipping location), they sent me a new one. And...it doesn't work at all.

At this point, I'm going to accept fate and eventually byy a dell battery. Has anyone else had this experience?>

I was thinking of diasssembling the chinese battery and using my rudimentary electronic skills to make sure everything was hooked up- or swap the cells to my 3 cell original battery. Any tips for take apart?

Any thoughts?

thanks
sean

I would agree on the dell option but 135.99 is pretty steep- almost 1/2 way to new machine!

yeah, but 1st of all, IT WILL WORK, 2nd you get a warranty, and 3rd you dont have to deal with China or Japan...(India maybe?....lol) but I think its still a better decision....

PS. I paid $498 for my 1010 so whats another $135?......but luckily after 1 1/2yrs I am still getting over 6hrs on my battery

You can buy a decent used Mini for that. Taking a little bit of risk of course, but maybe you get a good battery plus all the extra spares.

Had a couple of 6 cell batteries from ebay and had no problems whats so ever.

All i did was check the feedback for the same item and used that to prove they did at least have some stock that worked

Default Battery - 06-08-2011, 11:06 PM

Bear in mind that even if you buy a new one from Dell it could have been sat in their stock for a couple of years. I bought a superb second hand one two years ago when my Dell battery failed after just Twelve Months. The second hand hand one has been good for two years so far. Money, contrary to what some people here suggest, last time I looked, wasn't growing on trees....
