Default Restoring or formating my Mini 10v - 05-01-2011, 04:44 PM

Hi,
I've been having some bug's recently and would also like to clean up my computer a bit.
I wanted to restore to factory settings or format my Mini 10v HD but I found no way to do it, F11 and trying to reinstall Windows just messed it up even more!

I'm in France and I understand that certain models and countries don't have the F11 option...

I have the windows and the pilots and drivers disks as well as an external CD/DVD drive.

Please help

Dell Mini 10v (1011), Windows XP, external CD/DVD drive.

1st go into the BIOS and enable 'Legacy USB', then just put in your Original Windows Disk in the external Drive and reboot to the USB and follow the prompts, now keep in mind that you should try to backup any data you may want as this procedure will wipe out EVERYTHING and reload Windows back from the start, then you will need to reinstall any Dell Applications and Dell Drivers from their appropriate disks also

PS. Welcome to the forum....

Thanks, have you done it before? I'm tired of getting out all the 'tools' for nothing. All my data is saved on my external HD.

read my sig, my system came with a 160gb, then I put in a 500gb and now I have a 750gb drive.....do you think I have done it?

PS. If you know what you are doing you can use a USB flashdrive too, I dont even own an external DVD drive...never found the need for one yet

I had a bit of free time and tried as you told me, but all I get is the windows re-instalation process interupted due to "nvrd32.sys not found" message. I'm at a loss.
