Default Does Higher Clock Rate Memory make a difference? - 04-01-2011, 02:01 PM

Noob here to the Dell Mini 10v - bought one on eBay that is supposed to arrive tomorrow.

I went out and picked up a stick of 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 (667) RAM, but now I am seeing that it will take PC2-6400 (800) RAM.

Did I get the wrong type, or are the RAM modules "downward" compatible. (I thought the FSB on this thing ran at 533 MHz).

So can I assume that using PC2-5300 vs PC2-6400 will make no difference in performance?

Thanks! The hacking begins tomorrow...

Higher speeds than 533MHz are fine, but I don't think you'll see any benefit in the 10v.

like reflex said it wont matter what speed you get, the Mini will still run it at 533mhz..unless its a real good deal...dont waste your money on the faster RAM, the Mini wont use it, keep in mind its a Mini its not like its a REAL computer or anything
