I have an idea that Apple is putting the hardware restrictions on Lion mostly to prevent its use on underpowered machines, and our netbooks certainly fall into that category.

I have gotten Lion to run on VirtualBox, and it definitely uses a lot more resources than Snow Leopard. 2 GB of RAM are a minimum for installation, and Snow Leopard had no such limitation. Once I got it going as a VM the difference in performance was immediately noticeable.

Even if someone figures out how to get our Atom Hackintoshes to run Lion I will be staying put. I don't have a touchscreen on my Latty 2100, so I don't feel I'll be missing much in the way of new features.

That and the multitouch gestures really complete Lion. It'd be difficult to use on such a small trackpad that doesn't accept over 3 finger gestures. Lion and iOS 5 share the same gestures for the most part, so I find this would be the hardest part to adjust to.
