Default Bluetooth won't work on Dell Mini Inspiron 1011 - 01-04-2011, 08:00 PM

Hello everybody,

I hope there is someone who can help me. I bought DELL Inspiron Mini 1011 with Linux Ubuntu OS. I have installed Windows XP from USB and got everything to work (web cam, fn keys, card reader, etc.) except bluetooth.

Already I've tried everything I could possibly find on net (re-installing the driver, starting the softwer directly from folder, DELL's patch file, enabling in BIOS, etc.) and absolutely nothing worked.

When I do the right click on the bluetooth icon and choose "Enable Bluetooth Radio" Windows gives me the following message "Bluetooth device not found. Please verify that your Bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on." Whatever I do, computer doesn't seem to see my integrated bluetooth.

Does anyone has any other idea? I exhausted everything there is on net.

Thank you in advance.

Boki011.

You may not have a bluetooth module. The bios entry does not mean it's there. This is a common misunderstanding. It happened to me.

Bluetooth is not anymore in the Device Manager list. But it was listed before I have manualy deleted it, in one of my many efforts to make it work by trying everything from the beggining. I guess I've done something stupid? I am not an expert in computers, I only know how to follow instructions.

I have "Bluetooth Configuration" icon in Control Panel and Bluetooth icon in tray. Does this tells you anything?

In my sales papers said I have 2.1+EDR Bluetooth device. I'll contact the salesman and see if it's so, although it was while ago.

go to control panel and click on "add/remove hardware" on win xp or in win 7 in control panel under "hardware and sound", click on add a device, and let the system search and see if it finds a bluetooth adapter..if it doesnt then either you dont have one or you have other issues as well

Device Manager didn't find it, but I end up installing the new Bluetooth software that he located on my computer. This program also could't find bluetooth device on my computer, so I guess I don't have it.

Contacted the store too and they are not sure wether this model came with bluetooth.

I think this is it, I officially don't have bluetooth and I am giving it up.

Thank you all for your help.
