| Guru Posts: 1,997 Join Date: Apr 2009 | A new Mini 10 (model 1012) with its 1.66GHz Atom CPU and a good SSD will be faster than a Mini 9 with its 1.6GHz Atom CPU and a slow SSD (all Mini 9 SSDs are slow compared to SATA SSDs). But it won't be a dramatic difference, and I still wouldn't call it "fast". That said, I'm almost completely happy with the performance of my 1012 with 2GB of RAM and a mediocre SATA SSD. But it's not a huge improvement over my 9 with 1GB of RAM and a crazy slow SSD (4GB STEC). You could look at one of the handful of dual core Atom netbooks. See here for one: HP Mini 5103 with dual-core Atom N550 performance review -- Engadget (I don't know if it has a fan).
