Default Where's my onboard webcam gone ?!!! - 08-12-2010, 06:49 PM

My daughter has a Dell Mini 10v(11) - about four months old - and the inbuilt webcam has gone missing !

It used to work fine but now the Webcam Control panel asks for a device to be connected. I've checked Control Panel and can find no reference anywhere to a webcam but there obviously is one !

I'm completely stuck here so any advice appreciated !!!

PS: I have no CD/DVD drive.

...... but thats what I just stated - there isn't anything in Device Manager !

If it was listed, where would it be (just in case I'm not seeing it) ?

I've also gone to the Dell site and can find no webcam driver for my model - do you have a link ?

Personally, I'd setup a Linux LiveCD/USB to boot off. Then run "sudo lsusb" in a terminal (command prompt).

That'll generate a listing of USB devices (even internal webcams are USB). If the cam doesn't show up in the listing, it's a low level problem, almost certainly hardware (broken wire, etc).
