Default Uninstall partition - 07-19-2010, 12:00 AM

Well I'm currently running my Dell Mini 10v with Windows XP (shows up as primary partition), and Windows 7 (shows up as secondary). What I want to do is format the Windows XP partition and combined that partition with my Windows 7 partition, making the Windows 7 partition the primary and the only one (for the time being) Anyone please help?

What you really want to do is delete the XP partition and then expand the Win7 partition into the unallocated space. There are various partition management tools to do this - Acronis Disk Director is the one I use - there are others.

I think you can do that within windows in disk management, in Win 7, go into control panel, then administrative tools, then computer management, then disk management, make the Win 7 volume the bootable, primary volume, then delete the XP volume and expand the Win 7 volume.....that should do it.....

I used EASEUS Partition Master 6.0.1 Home Edition to shrink the XP partition as much as I could, but it didn't give me an option to delete a partition. I tried using the Disk Management on Win7 but I can't figure out how to change my Win7 partition to the primary, and I can delete the XP partition.

in disk management move the mouse over the win 7 volume and right click, it should give you a drop down window with options, it should do the same thing over the win xp volume

I think that you have to make Win 7 the active & primary partition 1st..in the long run maybe you should just download the trial version of acronis and do it through that, I have Acronis Disk Director Suite FULL version and it works real well

I downloaded the demo and it worked great... except now it says I need a serial key to preform operations.
