Default Bluetooth from MSI Wind into a Mini 10v - 04-19-2010, 11:24 PM

Is it possible to take parts from an MSI Wind U100 and put it inside my Mini 10v.

I wanted to possibly put the Bluetooth in it if at all possible... Has anyone done it.

how good are you at soldering?.......no seriously, if all you want is BT, why not just buy a USB BT dongle for like $20 (USD)...I am sure there most be plenty available in Tokyo, no offense but most of our stuff comes from there anyway...its gotta be cheaper than we pay...but in general I dont think that too many parts would be interchangable....I think they do that on purpose....

I am sorry. I did not know that it was soldered to the board.

I am pretty decent at soldering though.

I want to get the Bluetooth and GPS installed but be built in.

I am not positive about the soldering, it might just be a plug in board, but you know how Dell is so I dont know....you might be able to get both and just plug them in, I ordered mine with everything so I didnt have to deal with anything later on...you might wanna try doing a search...I think I have seen threads on this in the past that might help ya....Good Luck..

You can try this: http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/dell...-mini-10v.html

or this: DealExtreme: $1.98 Super Mini Bluetooth 2.0 Adapter Dongle (Vista Compatible)

As for GPS options, there are plenty of USB and bluetooth options available, just explore the GPS section of the website listed above.

Unfortunately, my 10v has "migrated" to the care of a relative, so I can't test it with XP for now. However, it does work on my Studio 15 with Win7 x64, but it's not exactly reliable. I'm not entirely sure if it's the device or the Win7 drivers. Also the only bluetooth device I have to test with is my windows mobile phone, which has some compatibility issues with Win7. In the end, I guess I got what I paid for.

If you're considering one, buy two, just in case. Otherwise, buy one of the others that come with a driver CD.
