Default Retail copy of OS X 10.6 (not oem) - 04-06-2010, 11:23 PM

Been looking for a Retail copy of OS X 10.6 mentioned in several guides here ($30) but all the ones I find are way more expensive. Please point this new 10V user in the right direction to purchase new that will work with the guides. ciao

Thanks, please excuse any ignorance on my part: if this will work (Mac OS X version 10.6 Snow Leopard) but the pictures in the guide(s) show a disc with an "X" on it. The disc sold at Amazon & Apple has a Snow Leopard on it (not an "X"). If this is the upgrade disc (29-30$) then what are the discs sold that cost way more?

The upgrade disc is the full Snow leopard, OSX 10.6. You are quite possibly looking at the family pack (GBP40) or the Mac Box Set (GBP132) which is a "full" version of the OS plus iLife and iWorks.

Unless by way more you mean GBP400, which is OSX Server, which is entirely the wrong one.

Technically you should buy the box set, but the upgrade disc is fine for GBP25.

(all prices in pounds because... well just because I have them to hand)

Best Buy. $29.99

I might go back and get the box set for iLife and iWorks...but not until I get OSX working in the first place.

I just went to my local apple store and asked for Snow Leopard. Told them I had an intel mac I was updating. I was in and out in 5 minutes, it was super quick.
