Default Mini 10v build quality not so great? - 03-18-2010, 06:17 PM

Hmm just received the netbook today and notice the fit/finish doesn't seem that good. When the netbook is closed I can press on the lid in certain spots and hear a "popping" sound from the lid. Almost as if though there are gaps in the lid........

Anyone else experience this?

I sent back my new Mini 10v (just after I had received it) due to a rattle somewhere in the case. Sounds like a loose screw or broken piece of plastic rattling around inside.

My 10v wobbles when it is placed on a flat surface, i have to put a folder to under one of the corners to make it stay still when typing.

Default Yes, I had this... - 03-30-2010, 10:56 PM

Much like the ram upgrade though, it requires you to be totally fearless. To fix, dismantle as per video instructions until you get to the bit where you remove the main board.

When mainboard is removed, sit your 10v on a flat table. If it rocks at this point, literally pick it up and gently bend the case (the bottom part) until the unit will sit flat.

Re-assemble your 10v as per second video instructions, at each stage ensure that your netbook still lays flat on a table (including when the screen is fully open).

My mini 10v now sits lovely and flat. Hope this helps!

It would seem easier to just shave down or add to the little rubber feets until the unit become stable. If you happen to be going inside the unit for some upgrades, then I can see making the "tweak" as part of the process. Otherwise, it seems like a lot of work for very little gain.

I'm happy with my 10v. Netbooks were never intended as high-end products.

+1

I'm very happy with mine. I kind of knew what to expect with a ~$250 netbook, however.

Same here. The quality is more than acceptable for such a low price.
