Default Downgrade (go back to XP) - 03-11-2010, 12:08 AM

I have OS X SL 10.6 + Win 7 dual boot on my Dell Mini-10v now. For some reason I need to send my Dell Mini-10v to dell for repair. I am suppose to send it with factory installed OS. Can someone guide me how I can install XP now?

Thanks

Use the restore/install XP CD Dell gave you. If it is a regular installation, choose a "Custom" install, then "Advanced", then delete all existing partitions and allow the install to use the unpartitioned space.

Thanks for your reply. I have this green color CD "Reinstallation CD"
Recovery Media for Microsoft WIndos XP Home Edition Production SP3. You suggesting me to use this CD? I am not sure if this is a bootable CD or not?

Yes, that's a bootable CD and the one you want.

Have a similar issue, so I guess I need to buy or borrow an external CD Drive?

I haven't found a way to successfully copy the contents of the "green XP CD" to a bootable USB drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

Disregard my last post, just read another thread and going to give winsetupfromUSB a try.

If I were to get an external cd/dvd drive, would installing XP from the re-installation disc be like doing any basic Windows install?
