I also am finding this hard to swallow when given the fact that Dell doesnt GIVE anything way for free and charges for things that most do not..Maybe the OP is just confused..

well, let's be fair: if the install was complete before the failure and Dell left the SSD intact (repaired some other thing) it could be possible.

SOP (standard operating Procedure) at DELL is 'NOT' to fix anything that has aftermarket parts / memory / Hard-drive.... they remove the offending parts, test your system, fix it to their satisfaction, and send it back to you with 'YOUR' parts in a baggie...

IF and only "IF" the memory was actually bad, they could have replaced it with what they had on hand... in this case a "2GB" stick... And then the OSX install 'happened' to continue working...

I RMA'd my kingston 1GB micro-SD card, and they let me know that they couldn't fix it, and that they were sending me a 2GB micro-SD card in it's place...

Is this story possible... Yes... probable... No... But not quite impossible...

Dell mini 10v, 2GB Memory, N280 1.66Mhz, 1.3Mp Camera, 56WHr Lithium-Ion Battery (6-cell) Two HD's - 1st -Windows 7(120GB) & 2nd-OS X 10.6.6(16GB SSD) - (soon to be dual boot)
