Exclamation Windows 7 - Mini 10V - Taskbar question - 02-28-2010, 07:22 PM

Hi all,

I have just repartitioned the drive on my girlfriends mini10v to install OSx and Windows 7 and the OSx install has failed. To say she is unhappy is an understatement.

I'm just reinstalling Win7 on the second partition but have a question;

From the factory, the install had a task bar at the top of the screen, similar to that on OSx, with little categories for Office and Games etc.

Does this come as part of the Windows 7 install, or is it extra "dell functionality"? If the latter, where can I get hold of it?!

Please help - this needs to be back to factory-fresh standard by the end of tonight!!

Thanks!!

I think you are referring to the "Dell Dock" - I couldn't see this available for download from the Dell support website. Do you still have your Windows 7 recovery partition? If so you could restore from that?

- Simon.

Thanks Simon,

Sadly not, to install OSx you have to wipe the lot. Fek! At least I know where it came from, so I'll do some more investigation.

I have got a ghost image of the drives, but not sure how successfull they will be to restore.

Thankyou for your quick response.

Here's the link for Dell Dock: The Dell Dock, by Stardock : Powered by ObjectDock

Some people actually like RocketDock better, though: About RocketDock - RocketDock.com

I'm sure there are lots of other options out there, but these are the only two I've used.
