I have been using computers for over a decade. I have worked at ISP's
and even ran my own BBS system back in the day (remember those?).
I recently started college like 6 months ago and they gave me a Macbook
Pro. I absolutely was hooked on OSX. I did dabble in Linux just briefly
with like Redhat 5.0 back in the day, so I sort of missed having a stable
and secure OS. Windows hasn't fulfilled those needs (till 7.).
So continuing on, I ended up getting rid of my MBP because quite simply
it sucked for doing my design work. Especially now that I am getting into
the meat of my degree and really getting into the Adobe Creative Suite.
School gave me that too ^_^. So I sold the notebook, and for the price
of it I bought a 23" 1080p Acer with vga, hdmi and dvi inputs on the back,
an Apple wireless magic mouse and wireless KB, A Mac Mini which I
upgraded out of the box to 4gb ram and a 500gb hd, a new desk, and more.
I really got sick of plugging and unplugging my MBP, and in turn
cycling my battery a lot. The cramped 13.3" screen too was getting to me.
The difference in screen real estate is major when going from a small
screen to 1080p.. and my design work reflected the change.
I still have a lot of generals and business classes to wade through, so
a notebook solution is/was needed. I have been looking at the Dell
Mini off and on and trolling these forums. I have been an active member
of Macrumors.com and have seen a lot of their hackintoshed netbooks and
have been a bit jealous. 2 Weeks ago I had an extra 250$ so I
went on EBAY to see what I could see. I found:
Dell Mini 10 for 199$
Mint condition, just no charger or software.
I was kinda bummed because it was listed as a normal 10, but it did
have the extended life battery- which is pretty cool! So I paid and
waited, it was coming from a pawn shop on the east coast. I'm in
Utah. A few days later it came, my matching skin was delivered too from
DecalGirl and also a charger I ordered.
I found out I had a Mini 10v!
So I was doubly happy, and now am typing from OSX. So my question
is, "Did I get a good deal for 199?" Dell Mini 10v with no accessories.
It seems like I did, at least an average deal compared to what is posted in
the For Sale section. ^_^
Anyways I love this system. I wouldnt write a master thesis on it, but
for my Word and Excel homeworkie .. it works NICE.
Thanks guys on here for providing a great place to talk about the Dell products.
