Default 2gb upgrade success! - 02-12-2010, 11:02 PM

hey all, just wanted to say thanks for the guides that helped me upgrade to 2gb. I have to say osx feels snappier, no increase in boot times. but im happy.

funny thing, when i was taking apart, one of the screws on the bottom was severely stripped, looks like someone tried the upgrade, stripped the screw and couldnt get it out, and sent it back to dell. that must have been why mine was a refurb. oh well, i got it out, but i dont think i wanna put it back in until i know that everything is ok. unless someone knows where i can get replacement screws for this 10v?

anywho, happy friday for me!

Awesome.

I've been thinking of upgrading mine, that extra gig would be useful for RAM disks. But my 10v was a gift from my brother, and I'd kill myself if I broke it.

How difficult is it to upgrade the RAM?
I've been thinking about buying some.

honestly, it really wasnt that bad. if you do it, just go step by step, take your time, and its really not bad at all. i think where people run into problems is they rush through it and break something. i just took my time, watched the videos, and just took it one step at a time.

go for it!

Upgrading the RAM in the Dell Mini 10v (with videos and guide)

i followed the video in this guide. i just went step by step and paused the video when i was working. i went really slow and took my time, just going step by step.

if you have ever built a computer or upgraded ram or anything like that, you'll be fine. just take it slow. my biggest advice is not to rush through it, give yourself an hour to do it.

notice a difference? umm yeah i do, things seem snappier. i can have mail, chat, internet, office stuff open and flip through the windows with no lag. im glad that i did it. its not like a "holy **** this is crazy fast!!!" difference, but its noticeable.

hope this helps

I got my 2gb stick from Crucial. I'm sure I could have found one a bit cheaper from elsewhere but I wanted to do this once and do it right. Upgrading the ram wasn't hard but it's not something I want to do again...
