Hi limegreenz, and welcome to the forum!

Hopefully the majority of the information and help you receive on here will indeed be warm and friendly... it really is a great site!

Personally I do agree with what you are saying about Dell, and am sure that Trading Standards would be none to happy with what they are doing here.

I am not really sure about the keyboard side of things though, as I haven't read their T & C in detail... to me it does at least appear to come under the 'sharp practice' heading though.

This is an update for others with the Romanian problem.
I've called Dell more times than I can afford? plus emailed and never once had a reply?
Today (over the phone) they agreed to send out a UK power adaptor and it looks like I'll have to live with the @ key being in the wrong place! With the KB set to UK it does give a £ sign in place of $.

I believe Dell put these 500 Romanian spec machines on by mistake, there's no doubt that mines new, (I can't see that 500 broken machines were suddenly refurbished and came from the same country???) There is no refurb stickers like others I've seen.

They would not however agree to send me the restore software which, I did pay for and is on my purchase receipt.
I have read that restoring the computer to new is done done by pressing F8 during boot and choosing dell restore which formats and reinstalls
(Windows 7 only). I tried this and it does work.
BTW, this forum is a mass of knowledge so I'll be staying.

In the Uk, you expect to receive the product described in the advert, if you dont then you can expect your money back, the law backs you up here. So no you don't expect a cut rate product, you expect to get what was described. Once I made contact with Dell, they were more than happy to refund my money. Someone at Dell made a mistake and they are putting it right.

If they had described the mini as having a US Keyboard for the price I am now paying for the second unit, I would still have brought it, and been 100% happy as it would have met my expectations.

I have ordered another mini 10v and decided that with a new UK power adapter and another £17 pounds off, I'll accept the US keyboard.

Thanks for the updates, Sundaytimes!

I got my Mini 10v yesterday from the outlet and, of course, it is the same spec as yours - Romanian etc etc. I intend getting as much as I can from DELL to make up for their rather shoddy practice here. I am able to use my Mini 9 power pack until I get a UK replacement and I certainly hope to get a replacement keyboard (I had thought at the start that I had a UK spec keyboard but no - it was US). I regard your good efforts as being the 'baseline'!

I don't really want to return the Mini 10v as I have a rock solid Snow Leopard installation (10.6.2) but I guess I will do so if DELL prove to be unreasonable. Mind you, in the recent past I have 'persuaded' British Airways to offer my sister and her husband free return flights from the UK to anywhere on the BA network, as a result of them being treated rather badly on a transatlantic flight (they chose Heathrow - Vancouver and return) - it is just a matter of asking politely and being very persistent.

It would be very useful if others from the UK on this forum who have been 'awarded' the Romanian stuff by DELL Outlet keep everyone up to date on their dealings with DELL on this matter.
