FIXED!! Started over and it worked.
I received my new 10v and upgraded the memory and installed a new hard drive. I installed Windows XP from the disk that came with the computer using a 2GB USB flash drive. Here is a screen capture of the process I am using:
I started the boot from the USB and rebooted twice completing both parts. When I rebooted a third time from the hard drive I received a message that "hal.dll" is corrupt or missing in the Windows/System32 directory. I was able to boot from the USB and then I checked the directory and the dll file was there. ?????
I tried to check the boot.ini file but it was not there "Right click the My Computer icon/Properties/Advanced/Startup and Recovery/Settings/System Startup/Edit.
I am starting over so if anybody has any other ideas it would be greatly appreciated!
