Default Keyboard Mod question - 02-09-2010, 12:05 AM

Has anyone done, or heard of someone doing a illumination keyboard mod to the DellMini 10v? I recently bought my 10v a few days ago, and I like it a lot, got OS X running on it and all, And this is my first computer that isn't a desktop PC. And i find it hard to type on the keyboard in the dark, since i's still getting used to the button placement. I'm looking for a guide that has the light under the keys. Any information is appreciated.

You would also have to replace or modify all the keys since they are opaque. Have you considered an inexpensive USB LED gooseneck lamp, sold for this purpose?

Yes, but what that guy did was install an LED in the lid to shine on the keys, not quite the same thing.

How about an LED headlamp?

You might be able to fit some LED's under the keyboard so that the light actually shines around the keys not through them. It wouldn't make it any easier to see which key was which but you would be able to find the actual keys easier. You would need to find a power point for the LED's and drill some small holes in the base of the keyboard to mount them in but it might work, more of an underkey glow

you could always just not sit in the dark...
or learn to type without looking at the keys.

how about doing a REALLY GOOD NEAT job of painting over the existing numbers, letters, signs, symbols, ect with some type of glow in the dark paint. Sounds silly, I know.
