Thank you very much! It worked for me too. I recorded a video with the sounds my laptop was doing during the process (I couldn't record how to press the keys and connect the power because my hands were quite busy). I didn't have a USB floppy so I bought it on internet (19€) and I also bought some disks. I'll upload my videos to youtube and I'll post the links later. Thank you! My dell 1011 (10v) is working again!

I bought an 10v from the internet with a brick. So I used this guide and it worked perfect. (best €80 spend for a laptop ever) it even has 2GB ram.
I didn't had a USB floppy drive so I burned them using a special image for floppy to a CD and booted it using a external DVD station. It thinks it is an floppy disk drive haha .
So thx
And ppl it's not bad to update your bios. Just don't downgrade or mess with it if you don't know what you're doing.
I'm on A6 now and it works perfect on OSX 10.6.3 (have to update it to 10.6.7 I know)

Dell Mini 10v - A04 - Intel Antom N270 - 1GB Ram - Intel GMA950 - Dell Wi-Fi 1397 - Snow Leopard 10.6.7 - Trackpad works great like sleep. Sound sometimes doesn't work when I boot

Files in this post are beat..
They are missing most of what is in the orginal Crysis Restore download..
Just do a do a Google search, I found file at a Bios Restore site in the UK..
Dont waiste you time with the single formating files the real Crysis Restore has all these files
BIOS.WPH
CRISBOOT.BIN
CRISDISK.BAT
descript.ion
MAKEBOOT.EXE
MINIDOS.SYS
PHLASH16.EXE
WINCRIS.EXE
WINCRIS.GID
WINCRIS.HLP

Change Bios..Rom to BIOS.WPH and run Wincris.exe

Any way to run the recovery tool to extract the files on a 64 bit version of windows? I don't have ready access to a 32 bit version right this second. If not, I'll try to run over to a buddy's house later on. Thanks a million.

Nevermind. Installed Windows Virtual PC, ran an XP Pro ISO, integrated it, and used that OS to format my USB Key. Also, I changed the drive letter of my USB to A, and used my USB Key in place of a floppy drive. Worked for me. Thanks, anyways, for the help.

Chris

Any chance you could be a bit more detailed on the process of substituting a USB key for the required floppy? They are hard to come by in 2012

Thanks

J

just go into administrative tools, disk management and change the drive letter of the flash drive, if you have no floppy the system should allow you to change the drive letter to 'a'

Hey rrfranczak3

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I believe I have exhausted that possibility. Even with the driver+path switched to A, there is still an error on the install of the Crisis software (unable to install boot sector or something along those lines) although the three files needed to boot (minidos phlash16 and the bios) are copied over correctly.

I also came across a version of Phoenix Crisis (WINCRIS.EXE) that allows you to install the crisis boot disk on any external drive (ie a thumb drive). Everything on that install seeming to work, but still no luck. The computer continues it's recurring rhythmic beeping infinitely until I unplug it.|

If your or anyone else has any other suggestion, I would appreciate it. I am hoping to get my hands on a floppy disk drive soon to try that.

Thanks again,

Justin
