I would go with Win 7 Pro...the only real advantage that Ultimate has over pro is the data/disk encryption or whatever they call it (I am on my HP with XP Pro right now and cant check)...which you would probably never use anyway..starter is too limited...Pro would be the best I think....I run Ultimate because I was able to get it...it just worked out that way

They are listed in my signature. Actually I have one more extra osx installed for pure hacking play. I like XP since my VMs runs smoothly on top of it, for example I got another XP on top of VM reserved for P2P applications, and it becomes disposable at any time, and no internet performance hit at all. Ubuntu is a must, it serves as my OS manager, you can backup or restore any of other OSs in it, for example, one month later, if my osx or xp is suspected to have any issue, just restore it to a clean state from a backup in only 10~20min for a 32G partition dependent on partition utilization. Moblin boots up very fast, I can start surfing the web in a short time, also you can find a lot of interesting games in that community.

For right now...I'll probably have a triple boot. OS X, Windows 7 (for maybe a game or two and a program I need for my CIS209 class) and Fedora (because that's the distro we're using in my CIS297 Linux class)...
