Ok I have a an idea killbox... Try using xp drivers during win7 installation! I mean... Install Xp, or better, install Vista on your 40gb ssd. Then in control panel look at the hd driver, ata channel, ata controller driver and similar. Save on a usb disk all the driver related files. (Are listed on Driver tab, driver details) Then during win7 installation select load a driver... And hope in the Great Will... XD

EDIT:
If win7 doesn't accept these files at install time, do this: after instaled win7 and its bluescreen, take away the ssd and plug in your desktop. Replace with your driver files from your vista installation every similar file in your hard disk! Then put back in netbook...

EDIT2: Can you tell me first what the bluescreen tell you? It is an atapi.sys error?

Yea, that could be a solution. I will try to install Vista today. I installed Ubuntu yesterday so I can't lookup that bluescreen. But if i'm not mistaken it said something like:
"System has been shutdown to prevent a operation that can harm the computer, if this is the first time you see it restart. If not unplug recently installed drivers or hardware". This came during the second part of the Vista to Win 7 upgrade. I began the upgrade process in Vista. I copied the files etc and needed to reboot. The upgrading.. upgrading... Bluescreen. So it never really gets through the installation process.

So I should look up the SSD in the device manager and copy the driver files from there and use them during the win 7 installation.

There are no special drivers for the SSD. It looks to the OS just like a regular SATA hard disk.

Hm. Ok, but I've heard that the SSD doesn't really get formated when you click format in the windows installation, and that seems to be the problem. When I install win 7, I usually get the error message "can't partition the harddrive...." Maybe win 7 is a bit more "sensitive" than Windows Vista?

Maybe I should use a third-party application to format before the installation? Or maybe this won't help cause windows has to do it as well.

Edit.

The sata mode could also be a problem. Maybe win 7 doesn't support idepci-mode + ssd?

Edit 2.

I've seen someone has mentioned a "partial install?" and I tried that. I booted up from the Vista dvd and just made an empty partition and then start the windows 7 installation on that partition. But this appeared when it tried to copy files: "Windows could not do a format on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selected installation. Error code: 0x80070057"

That gives us one more answer. The windows 7 installation has to make a partition on itself.

Edit 3.

Looks like this guy had the same problem as me. Not a good conclusion though...

Edit 4.

I can get past the partition step. Now i'm stuck at expanding windows files.
"Windows cannot install required files. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070002"

I've got this same EXACT problem with my X25-V SSD in my mini 10. Windows XP worked great and Windows 7 errors EXACTLY the same way yours does.

I've got a Windows 7 install on a 30gb partition on the stock HDD and will try cloning it tonight to see if it works.

Did you do the firmware upgrade? I did and the issue is still here, was wondering if it was a problem with the FW or not. If you didn't update the FW what version does the drive have(should be written on the top right corner of the sticker, says FW:##XX(#=number X=letter)).

Another question, have you tried the SSD toolbox in vista? Does it work or give you an error? Mine, in XP, said that it didn't work in raid configurations.

Okay, cloned the drive to the SSD and it got to the starting windows screen where it sat for about 6 minutes, the machine rebooted and hung on the DELL screen so I went into setup where it says "NONE" for the Fixed HDD exactly like it did after trying to install on an existing partition or when repartitioning the drive with Windows 7. It comes back after a full shut down.

Time to head over to the Intel forums.

Yep. Looks very accurate. I think this problem has to do with the Dell and not the SSD, bacause I managed to install Windows 7 without any problems when I connected it to my desktop computer. Win 7 was installed just in a few minutes.

Here you can see the difference between achi @ windows 7 and windows vista @ pciide.

There is really no point of having a SSD without Win 7 and TRIM.

Edit.

Just noticed that my SSD had firmware 02HB and the newest firmware is 02HD. I updated and tried to install windows again, but didn't get passed the expanding files.

I was thinking the same thing. There are a few people that have tried RunCore SSDs with the Mini 10 and suffer the same issues with Windows 7.

Whatever Windows 7s driver is trying to do on the 10 none of the SSDs like it. I'm pretty stoked about it because Newegg has a no-refund policy on these.

I've seen a lot of forum threads about this problem. But none have provided a good answer yet. I will try to do a HDD erase 3.3 now and see if that could help.

Edit.

Just did a HDDerase 3.3 now and that didn't help either.

Will try to do a Norton Ghost once more (third time)...
