Thats confused, i just putted the old 160gb out and the 64gb ssd in, and all things gone normal.

And if you install on your desktop, and then put it in your mini and update the drivers? perhaps this works for you?

Or didnt the mini find your ssd all the time?

Perhaps you changed something in the bios SATA Mode or so?

At the moment i cant take a look in my bios, but perhaps you can change your sata mode, and try again. If that take no effects you can change it back in bios.

Good Luck

I did connect it to my Dell after I installed Win 7 on my dekstop. I booted alright but I didn't get passed the windows logo on the startup. I think it freezed. Where do I change the sata mode in the bios? I can't find any other options than boot devices.

One more thing. My bios version is A06, but in the Dell support section it says that A04 is the newst bios :/

My SSD is listed as Fixed hhd: Intel...
I also updated the bios to A11. I tried to upgrade once more in Vista. I managed to get through all the first steps, but when it boots and continues the upgrade process a blue-screen appears.

Yeah. Vista 32bit to Windows 7 32bit. The stock hdd (160gb samsung) has Windows 7 on it. That works fine. Ive used windows 7 since I got the Mini. I installed the Windows 7 right after I got the machine. It''s real strange that I can install win vist, but not 7.

Looks like this guy has the same problem:

You can't install Windows onto a disk connected to one computer and then move the disk to another - the install sets up things just for the devices and configuration of the PC you install on.

Yep I know. I just did it to see if it was the SSD that was the issue. I formated the SSD before I began the installation on the mini.

This pretty much explains why I need windows 7 and trim support:

Killbox, our Mini chipset is pata. Dell has installed a pata to sata converter chip. It will limit speed to 40mb/s, but the main problem is that can cause this kind of problem. Another user on this forum have problems with the 40gb ssd by Intel.

I think that if mydellmini forums users that are using an ssd with the Mini 10 write their models can help a lot for future buyers.

If you get any result tell me... Because I want to buy the 40 gb ssd.

I've almost given up the windows 7. Ive tried installing it like 100 times+ this weekend. I'm considering to swap back to the harddrive that came with the mini because the performance in Vista is horrible. I haven't experienced any battery time increase and a read and write performance on 40mb/s on read and write is not good. I've also tried to send a mail to Dell, but their contact form isn't working properly (great), so I think I will use the drive that came with the mini with windows 7 until i get a recipe how to use the SSD. I have an Intel 80gb SSD in my desktop computer and those SSD's are REALLY fast.
